Every pet hedgehog needs some form of mental stimulation with toys being a great option. As play allows them to avoid periods of boredom.
What kind of toys do hedgehogs play with? Hedgehogs like to play with toys that they can push or chew, ideally small balls with bells in them, make ideal toys. Chewable toys like small fabric based toys that are highly durable are also popular with hedgehogs.
We found ping pong balls and squeaky cat toys ideal for our hedgehog, as he would nudge into the ping pong balls. Later on we added a soft fabric based ball with a bell inside, this made a ringing sound everytime our hedgehog nudged the ball. In the end we found he liked to nudge the noise making ball more than the ping pong ball.
